12.2.2010 juhlitaan talviolympialaisten avajaisia Vancouverissa eli tasan kaksi vuotta jäljellä kisojen alkuun. Kisapaikat valmistuvat hyvää vauhtia ja Whistlerin osalta on valmista suurimmaksi osaksi, ei jää viime tippaan mikään.
Viime viikonlopun freestyle-kisat Cypressilla kärsivät huonosta säästä ja osa kisoista jouduttiin peruuttamaan sumun ja sunnuntaina lisäksi lumisateen takia. Puolentoista viikon kuluttua on alppihiihdon maailmancup-kisat Whistlerissä, saa nähdä miten tuo olympiakisaharjoitus sujuu. Jäämme innolla odottamaan mitä tuleman pitää...
Ihan vain tiedoksi, että tästä päivästä lähtien voi jättää hakemuksen vapaaehtoistöihin olympialaisiin. Sanottiinko aamun uutisissa, että hakemuksia oli jo tullut 17 maasta eli kiinnostusta tuntuu olevan.

Two years from today, on February 12th 2010, the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympic Games will take place in Vancouver. The venues will be ready well ahead of the games, in Whistler I think almost all of them are done.
The freestyle ski event on Cypress Mountain suffered from bad weather, they had to cancel some of the events due to fog and on Sunday it snowed too. In a week and a half an alpine skiing world cup event will take place in Whistler, it will be interesting to see how it goes.
Starting today applications to volunteer positions for the Olympics are accepted. I think they mentioned in the morning news that they had received applications from 17 countries already. There seems to be quite a bit of interest...
