The mascots for the 2010 olympics were revealed today after quite a bit of hype. First reaction in the city has been disappointment, these creatures are a bit too Pokemon, anime or Hello Kitty -like to people. Apparently many would have liked to see the spirit (kermode) bear or the killer whale as the mascot. Instead we got Quatchi the sasquatch, Miga the sea bear and Sumi the animal spirit.
Check out the mascots at the official microsite and form your own opinion. Due to the ever stricter copyright policies related to the 2010 games, I won't be posting any pictures of the mascots in my blog.
Edit 28.11. Out today: Vancouver 2010 official mascot merchandise available; children's t-shirts, hoodies, toques, plush, book and collector pins. Also a controversy brewing as the merchandise is made in China. Yay for all things commercial!
